Boss Cell Progression in Dead Cells: What Each Level Changes

Earning a Boss Cell

Finish the final boss of a run and you can claim a Boss Cell. The next difficulty opens once you hold one.

You do not need to clear every difficulty in order. Each Boss Cell sets a harder baseline for the runs that follow.

What difficulty changes

Higher Boss Cells raise enemy health and damage. They also add tougher enemy types to biomes you already know.

Some Boss Cells change routes or gate extra content behind them. Unlockables gathered at low difficulty carry upward.

Manage the jump

Expect to die when you raise a cell. Learn the new enemies before you push for a clear.

Bank cells at the Collector before a hard attempt. Progress survives even when the run does not.

Play for a clear, not a record

On a fresh difficulty, survival beats speed. Clear biomes you know and save your flask for the boss.

Next: Boss strategies and Biome routing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I earn a Boss Cell?

Finish the final boss of a run. Clearing it lets you claim a Boss Cell and open the next difficulty.

Does difficulty remove my unlocks?

No. Gear, runes and blueprints you earned stay. A higher Boss Cell only raises the challenge of each run.

How many Boss Cells are in Dead Cells?

The game climbs through a set of Boss Cell levels, and each one raises enemy health, damage and the enemy types you meet.

How hard is Dead Cells on higher Boss Cells?

Higher Boss Cells raise enemy health, damage and count. A build that clears one level can stall on the next until your gear improves.
