Read the path

The map is a web of nodes, not a straight line. You choose which fights to take and which to skip.

Each node type has a known reward and a known risk. Plan two steps ahead, not one.

Node types

Combat nodes build your deck with cards and gold. They are the safe backbone of most runs.

Elite nodes risk health for relics. Rest sites heal or upgrade. Shops sell cards and removal. Mystery nodes can help or harm.

Path with purpose

Route through rest sites before hard fights. Skirt elites until your deck can pay the toll.

A path that chases loot without a plan loses more than it gains. Pick the road your deck can walk.

Next: Elite encounter prep.

Frequently asked questions

Which map nodes are safest?

Normal combat and rest sites carry the least risk. Elites and some mystery nodes can hurt a weak deck fast.

When should I take a rest site?

Rest to heal when your health is low, or upgrade a card when you are healthy. Both beat a risky fight you do not need.

Should I take the elite path on the Slay the Spire map?

Only when your deck can win the fight. Rest sites and shops are safer nodes, and a skipped elite costs loot, not the run.
