What a synergy is
A synergy is what happens when two items change the same part of your attack. Some pairings multiply into a stronger shot.
Others cancel each other. Two items that both replace your tears cannot both win.
Reading a synergy means asking one question. Do these items change the same thing, or different things?
Additive stacks
Many damage items add to a shared number. Take two of them and your tears hit harder than either alone.
That stacking is the safest way to grow. Added damage rarely fights the items you already hold.
Tear replacements override
Some items replace your tears with a new attack. Brimstone, Mom’s Knife and similar items fall into this group.
Two replacements do not merge into one better weapon. One usually wins and the other does little.
When you already hold a replacement, a second one can waste a pedestal.
Why order rarely matters
For most stat items, the order you pick them up changes little. The end result is close either way.
The exceptions are replacements, where the outcome can depend on which you take last. Treat those picks with more care.
