Read the map before you move

Each floor shows a map as you reveal rooms. Use the map to plan a route, not to wander.

The map shows room types once seen. Icons mark the shop, the item room, and the boss.

The item room comes first

The item room holds a free item. Take it before the boss so you fight with the upgrade.

A locked item room needs a key. Weigh the key cost against what the room likely holds.

The boss room goes last

The boss room ends the floor. Visit every other room you care about before you step inside.

Clearing the boss opens the way down. You can still explore after, but the floor is already beat.

When to skip a room

Not every room is worth the health. A room full of enemies for a single coin can drain more than it gives.

Skip rooms that cost blood for little reward. Keep your health for the boss and the floors below.
