Active tools, not passive items
Equipment sits in its own slot and fires when you press its button. It then goes on a cooldown before it can fire again.
Items work on their own. Equipment waits for you, which means its value depends on your timing.
One slot at a time
You carry a single piece of equipment. A new pickup replaces the old one, so every swap is a choice.
Swapping a healing tool for a damage tool changes your whole fight plan. Make that swap on purpose, not by accident.
Timing the press
The skill with equipment is knowing when to spend it. Firing a big tool on a lone basic monster wastes the cooldown.
Save it for the teleporter boss or a dense wave of elites. The same tool is far stronger when it lands on the right target.
Common equipment roles
Equipment tends to fall into roles. Some deal a burst of damage, some heal, and some move you or your enemies around.
A damage tool covers a weak build. A healing tool covers a risky one. Match the role to what your run lacks.
Drops and chests
Equipment arrives from equipment chests and from the occasional drop. The chest costs gold, like any other, so the price competes with your item chests.
Buy equipment when its role fixes a gap. Skip it when your build already handles that job.
Choosing a swap
Before you swap, name what the old tool did for you. If nothing else in your build covers that job, think twice.
Continue with gold and printers or see equipment in action in boss strategies.
